Les Italiens (en italien : Italiani) sont un peuple d'Europe du Sud partageant une culture italienne commune et dont la langue maternelle est l'italien ou l'un des dialectes italiens. Au-delà de la simple nationalité italienne, la définition peut englober les descendants d'immigrés italiens se considérant comme Italiens. Par ailleurs, la simple existence d'une culture italienne et de la pratique de la langue ne suffit pas ; on distingue, par exemple, en Suisse :

• les Suisses italophones,
• les citoyens helvétiques,
• les Italiens vivant dans la confédération.

Italians ( ) are a nation and ethnic group native to Italy who share a common Italian culture, ancestry and speak the Italian language as a mother tongue. Legally, Italians are citizens of the Italian Republic, regardless of ancestry or country of residence (though the principle of jus sanguinis is used extensively and arguably more favourably in the Italian nationality law), and are distinguished from people of Italian descent and from ethnic Italians living in territories adjacent to the Italian Peninsula.
